Map Selection

Map Selection provides the ability to explore a section of the map by making a selection based on a geographic location.

There are three ways to do this:

Drawing a point will create a selection, based on point placement.  Simply active the "Draw a point" tool, then click on the map. Next, click the Search button and view results.

Drawing a line will select features intersecting the line. Activate the "Draw a line" tool. Click on the map once to start drawing the line, click again to add additional vertices. For free-hand drawing, click and drag the mouse across the map. Double-click to end the line. Next, click the Search button.

Drawing an area will select features intersecting a polygon drawn by this tool. First, select a layer. Select "Draw an Area". A minimum of three points is needed in order to complete a polygon. Similarly to the line draw, click and drag the mouse to draw a free-form polygon. Double-click the last point to complete the polygon and click on "Search".

After a query feature (point/line/area) is drawn, access the option to create a buffer around a spatial query here:

It is important to know that running a search with a buffer will overwrite an existing search. Be sure to export anything that should be saved.
